As long as I'm profitable, I don't really care about chasing some elusive grail. I highly doubt there is some method that encompasses all that is what we call markets.

It depends on how you grasp the concept. If you think there exists out there somewhere, some indicator or system that trades the market with %100 accuracy this is naive imho.

But what you call a holy grail is the harmonious composition of methods (greed and fear management, money management, risk management, strategies for entering and exiting, etc.) for managing positions in the market, which gives a trader consistent profits in the long run, then i belive there exists a holy grail.

I have been round and round with this one myself. The answer is 'yes', there is a holy grail. However, the grail will be different for everyone. In generic terms, I think you could say it is a system that:

1) Matches the individual's risk profile
2) Matches the individual's time constraints
3) Matches the individual's financial aspirations
4) Is profitable over time

For example, you could be that person that wants to daytrade for a living and make 1 million dollars a year. There are methods that will accomplish that.

You might also be that person who wants to trade once a month to make a little extra spending money.

There is no real right or wrong answer, but I think the problem with most people is that they start asking the wrong questions first. Stop chasing ever new system or indicator that comes out...decide what type of trader/investor you want to be, then let the system come to you.

I agree with se9999,
There may be a holy grail adaptable to your style, but that holy grail will not be a holy grail for another person.
Ive been going round and round for years when i first started but have adpted my own style and tweek it when needed.
Depends on your style and the way you want to trade.

Regards

I believe that holy grail system exists, especially in high frequency trading.

Just look the chart several minutes after an important news (e.g., NFP) is announced, you will find that it's very technical.

Finding a "Holy Grail" is just an humbug... No one can predict the market movement as it is associated with human sentiments and the sentiments will change as peoples change...

Only thing that will not change is "CHANGE"... so don't rely on finding a "Holy Grail" to beat the market always... just go along with the market and make your movements as per your experience and rules...

One simple rule is - Market will always be there but make sure you will stay to perform well (not always) sometimes later... Preserve the capital should be the caption for trading else you will not stay long...

I agree with you and I have voted yes.
the Holy Grail is when you find a trading metodology that let you survive in market and fulfil your wish in therm of risk/reward..

you don't have to dream richness but, you have to feel comfortable wher you are in market...
bye
