Episode 1

Over the last 5 days the market dropped 300 points
Is the race to the top a marathon or sprint? Guy explains the importance of staying patient on Wall Street, while Parker defends the risky strategy of short-selling. Sandra gets her schmooze on at a networking event. Jill, retired at 27, works diligently on building her own hedge fund, and Alex teaches his young son some important lessons about success and hard work.
Street Talk:
Equities: stocks representing ownership interest in a company
Hedge Funds: aggressively managed portfolio for small groups of wealthy clients
Short Sell: selling borrowed stocks high, buying them back, returning them low, and pocketing the difference. Risks are much higher and you can lose more than you make
Leverage: using borrowed money to increase potential return
Healthy market: information is broadly disseminated and honestly
Episode 2
Wall Street Status:
The market is down after authorities discover a plot to bomb the Holland Tunnel
As Sandra works on closing a $500 million deal, a looming deadline may throw a wrench in her plans. Tim enjoys the commute from his bedroom to his living room, where he runs a successful hedge fund. Bob teaches about Wall Street practices in the pre-technology age, and Guy explains the necessity of getting in synch with the market’s rhythms.
Street Talk:
Scalping: A trading strategy that tries to make profits on small price moves
Specialists: Work on the floor of the Stock Exchange. If someone wants to sell a stock and there are no buyers present, specialists must buy according to federal law
Black Monday: The day of the stock market crash on October 19, 1987. On this day, specialists had to buy up the stocks that were rapidly sold, even if it meant borrowing money against their insurance policies or triple mortgaging their homes
Managers: Individuals on Wall Street who decide which securities to buy and sell
Episode 3
Wall Street Status:
The market is stable with only minor ups and downs
Parker investigates a company that he suspects is inflating their image to gain high stock values. Bob explains the ways of Wall Street to a young intern, while Sandra continues to meet with high-performing hedge fund managers. Tim continues to work from home and gets a visit from a zealous cleaning woman, his mother.
Street Talk:
Covering the Short: Buy back stocks in order to replace the borrowed shares
Bearish: To believe the market will go down
Bottom Fishing: After a large sell-off or drop in the market, a slang term for picking oversold stocks
Bullish: The belief the market will go up
All the Boats Rise: When the stock market is quickly rising, there is a tendency for most stocks to increase in value due to over-optimism
Episode 4
Wall Street Status:
The market is closed for the weekend
On Wall Street, when you work hard, you get to play even harder. This week, it's all about spending quality time and of course, quantity money. Tim tees off on the golf course before a night out with a model. Meanwhile, out in the Hamptons, Guy fits in some family time, and Sandra hits the polo club. Alex and his family barbeque, and he shows off his most favorite possession, his gleaming motorcycle.
Street Talk:
Grey Market: The market in which a security it traded before it is issued properly on the Primary Market
OTC: Over the Counter, you trade and settle direct with another Counterpart e.g. bank, you do not settle via an Exchange
Registrar: The companies that register the ownership of the security and issue certificates of ownership, if you loose the certificate just contact the registrar
Spread: The difference between the buy and sell price, how the market maker makes money
Episode 5
Wall Street Status:
Strategy is the key to high profit as stock prices fluctuate throughout the day
Is a profitable day in the stars? Sandra meets with a financial astrologer, but talk soon turns to her personal life. Alex explains his own strategies for breaking and re-grouping while Ted, an experienced floor trader, reflects on the Stock Exchange’s significance. Tim meets with Sandra for a business lunch, but seems more intent on sealing the deal with a date.
Street Talk:
Long biased: believing the price of a stock will rise over time
Dead Cat Bounce: Stock that is sold off very sharply and then has a little bounce back up
Stop Loss: Automatically triggered selling when a stock drops to a certain point
Episode 6
Wall Street Status:
Buyers lose confidence in the market, stock prices slump
After coming up $300,000 short, Tim loses one of his top investors, not to mention his notorious temper. Sandra is more than a little impressed by the co-founder of the Quantum Fund. Sporting a hedge fund with a 4000% return is proof that portfolio size does matter.
