A. What technicals are you relying on for your trading?

B. What would you say is the best learning path from your experience. What would be the priority?

For me:
1. basic technical analysis (basic trend formation, H&S, etc)
2. money management (size & leverage)
3. Market Profile
4. Elliot Wave
5. Specific setups
6. tape reading
and then practice, practive practice :D

Let's share some knowledge.
Cheers.

PS: Nice meeting you all & glad to be part of this community.

Indicators I have been using for emini futures for a few yrs now:

1. Time & Sales strip & DOM
2. Floor Trader Pivots (and understanding their downside)
3. Slow Stoch
4. MACD or RSI (depends on time frame/activity)
5. Volume interpolated against vol ave
6. 4,9,18 MA's
7. 89tick,1min,3min,5min,30min,60min candles

Price and volume is what all traders need.

1. Read the price movement.
2. See the volume flow.

No indicators. No complicates. No secrets. No fancies.

Hi Derringer,

are you talking about Volume Spread Analysis? I'v seen testimonies on the web that show that if put to good use can guarantee 80% chance accuracy on picks for entry/exit. Is that all that you use, and how reliable has it proven for you to be?

Thanx.

Pure Patterns ,...

Trading Indian market since years, Patterns helped me more then any other indicator. Though Stoch u can use to find bottoms if u can combine it will with fibonacci possible reversal zones . But its very hectic for anybody to develop such tool.

But All the wway wether it was intraday/short term/long term , As being in technicals i can relay on only patterns ( from basics to advance ).

Not tried too many indicators yet as they lacks at times.

I am using MA crossovers 2 & 3 MA and channel breakout systems.

I think most important is your money management strategy, even more important than your entry strategy. Beside that try to trade several non correlated or almost non correlated markets.

i'm using 3min chart with MA 9 & 11 only for direction, no crossover trading, trading only in direction of the trend after a pullback

I just read the tape. Thats the only true indication of what is happening. No amount of lines, arcs or other such nonsense will tell you what is happening. LevelII is now a waste of time also, only the size and speed of actual trades can tell you where the supports, resistances and momentum is. Instead of watching piles of indicators, watch what people are actually buying and selling

I use the KISS philosophy.
Keep It Simple Stupid!

Candlesticks Charts
Suport and Resistence Lines
Moving Averages Crossing Over
MACD
and Confirmation with Volume

That's it!

I rely on chart patterns and have found certain patterns to be very profitable across different time frames. Besides patterns I have had good results with system trading the Index. Basically a trend following method for trading the Index futures.

For day trading gold futures, I have found intraday pivot with daily Support and resistance levels to be very helpful.

My very simple trading;

Suport and Resistence Lines
Chart Patterns

I trade at a prop firm with other traders in an office. We listen to Squawkbox and look at Emini S & P 500 Chart. Then we short financial stocks like WB, WM, WFC, BAC, C, MER, MetaStock, etc if the futures are trending down. We long if the futures are trending up.

When the squawkbox guy says "locals buying" it is usually BS and an opportunity to short.

For intraday trading I use 5 and 20 min time frame.
For positional trade 60 min timeframe.
I use to watch divergence in RSI and MACD to enter in short or long.
try it.
