Hi

I tried to upload a file to MediaFire with a password today, I get an error

0 file(s) uploaded successfully, 1 file(s) failed
You can share these files by Email, Instant Messenger or on your website or MySpace profile with the sharing codes provided below.

This file could not be processed because the file is corrupted or is password protected. We do not currently support password protected RAR files however you may password protect your downloads using the MyFiles interface.

Please check the file and try uploading it again.

Maybe its my PC? Do any of you guys have the same problem?

Thanks

You need to make a .rar file with password.
Then rename that file from *.rar to *.rar.zip

This way mediafire will believe it is a .zip file instead of a .rar file and allow you to store the file even if it is password protected.

Try it, it has worked all this time for us.

dellBoy, why don't You use Rapidshare to upload Your files? It's bigger and faster than Media Fire.

mediafire.com decompresses .rar files to check for viruses. If it is password protected, it won't be able to uncompress the file and hence give you an error.

We do not recommend rapidshare.com because they are slow. With rapidshare I can download in parallel and use it to fetch files remotely to rapidshare and qshare.com to quickly create mirrors without tying up my bandwidth.

Use 7zip (.7z) format then you can upload password protected file to MediaFire.

MediaFire won't accept password protected rar or zip file.

7zip file can be opened by WinRAR.

Members:

It is no longer needed to upload files with password protection when you post a contribution.
You can just zip or rar the files, upload to mediafire or rapidshare and you are done. We like to simplify your lives.:)
